Rightful placement or abomination?

Rightful placement or abomination?
Greg: Apparently the Gators are
taking the initiative to challenge the Miami Heat for that title of the majority of overrated team in Florida. While UF's No.by58748 22 ranking while in the AP Preseason Top 25 are few things towards the hype that surrounded the fundamental 3, it's equally undeservedThis is a team that lost six NFL talents from last year's squad -- seven should you ask Will Hill -- and enters 2011 using an almost entirely new coaching staff.Understanding that attrition is produced by a previously mediocre group that went 8-5 and take care of an unofficial 31st in last year's final AP poll. It's ridiculous they will rank previous to No. 23 Auburn, which won the nation's championship this past year, lost fewer players towards league and returns all of the integral items of their coaching staff. The same goes for teams like Arizona State, Penn State and Utah, these all had solid 2010 seasons, return the vast majority of their top talent and get established stability for their program.Florida is ranked where they can be due to the fact they're Florida.Put these players within a different uniform plus they probably wouldn't sniff the superior 25.Matt: Auburn? Really Greg? Auburn? This year, nobody expected the Fightin' Cam Newtons to elevate through the ranks using a loss-less season, dominating the toughest conference inside nation that could a national championship. But that is the. These rankings mean nothing. Squat. A lot less than squat, actually.Do not think me?Just ask the New Ball Coach. Answering an issue recently about UF's No. 22 ranking, Mr. Eloquent, Will Muschamp, put it thusly: "I could care less."Well, Sir Boom, among our esteemed colleagues so aptlypointed out, the proper phrasing is "couldn't care less."As in, I couldn't care less the reasons why you think Florida is ranked excessive, Greg, because, frankly, they are where they must be.Whilst the Gators receive absolutely no credit for last season's pathetic showing, they actually, fairly or otherwise not, have got a gain on many teams because the uniforms on their backs as well as the conference they play in.That's one ofthe few points we recognize, Greg. But here's the facts.Should Florida win a few the toss-up games on its schedule and break the eight-win plateau, a finish inside top 20 after 12 months is totally feasible. This can be the SEC, in the end -- not the Whack-12.Greg: First off, you may not hear me arguing which the Pre-knowledge AP Poll is a superb opportunity for sportswriters nationally for being spending their time.Like Jersey Shore, the preseason poll can be a pointless mind-suck depending on nothing, that, nonetheless, keeps fans within the edge of their seats. But my point is this: Should you be about to get it done, it's possible you'll at the same time still do it.I don't know how you did your math using this toss-up thing, Matt, because get the job done Gators win their toss-ups against UAB, Tennessee and Kentucky, that's still six or seven wins. And i also know there isn't any way you're calling Georgia, Auburn or all of these other games a toss-up -- if you do not meant Furman, FAU and Vanderbilt? Those showdowns could be hotly contested. The concept Florida's conference makes a contribution to these rankings is every bit as silly for me.Because the Gators are planning to obtain their faces smacked in by good teams means they deserve credit so you can get their faces smacked in?It all returns to Jersey Shore. You place that trash on another channel, and it's really still garbage.Maybe Florida isn't quite garbage, though the point remains: a mediocre team in any conference remains to be simply a mediocre team, not just one to be ranked while in the top 25.No less than not until they demonstrate us something.Matt: Whilst the Gators probably are not #twinning (inside of a football sense) anymore together with the departure of Maurkice and Mike Pouncey, it will have some holdover with the days of Urban and BCS crowns.Rivalry wins. There's really no way Muschamp loses to his alma mater as part of his first season at Florida. Not happening. I'm counting the Annual Bulldog Massacre as a notch within the 'W' column for that Gators. Also, while Florida could really be terrible, there isn't any way they lose to UAB. (The thing the Blazers have going for them is proximity to Dreamland BBQ.)FAU and Furman can also be as near to some guarantee as you can get since Billy Mays OD'd on booger sugar.Counting "toss-up" victories against Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt (yes, I visited) and Georgia, means UF only requires a quasi-upset against Auburn to validate its rank.
